Bill Darnell, Mary Stockdale and local artists Molly March and Cathy Stubington are organizing a local community art event as part of the international Climate Impacts Day (5/5/12) 350.org

The pine bark beetle outbreak is the result of climate change so they plan to make a beautiful Ponderosa Pine drawing on a large banner.

So come on down to the Bean Scene – provide some input on this art creation. After that, parade the banner to Spirit Square near City Hall where four magnificent specimen pines hold watch.

Join together in celebration of the Ponderosa pine that includes songs, poetry readings and speeches.

Here is the schedule of events for Saturday, May 5th – 2012:

12:00-4:00 pm: Banner making in front of the Bean Scene
4:30-5:00 pm: Parade from the Bean Scene to Spirit Square
5:00-5:30 pm: Meet at the pine trees in Spirit Square for the celebration and 350.org group photo

The Vernon Climate Action Group in collaboration with the Calendario Art Project of Runaway Moon works to create an improved understanding of the seasonal rounds in our community, including the interconnections between nature, agriculture and culture.
